Meet Jeff

Service is at the core of Lt. Colonel Dr. Jeff Woolford – as evidenced by his commissioned military service to our country and appointed service to our state as a public servant.  Now, Jeff is running for Lieutenant Governor to continue his legacy of service here in his home state of Maryland.

Born in Baltimore, and a graduate of Westminster High School, Jeff embarked on a more than 30-year career of service to his country in the United States Air Force as an aircraft mechanic, fighter pilot, and flight surgeon. Jeff spent time in combat in Afghanistan and completed tours of duty in South Korea, Germany, and the United Kingdom.

While he was enlisted in the Air Force, Jeff received his Associate in Applied Sciences in Aircraft Systems Maintenance Technology degree from the Community College of the Air Force, and his first Bachelor of Science degree in Professional Aeronautics from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.  After his commissioning, he earned a second Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from the University of Maryland – Baltimore County, and his Doctor of Medicine degree from the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences in Bethesda Maryland.  Later, he earned Master of Public Health and Master of Business Administration degrees from Johns Hopkins University.

Most recently, Jeff served his state by working in multiple roles for the Hogan administration. In his positions as the 175th Medical Group Commander of the Maryland Air National Guard, and the Assistant Secretary of Health and Chief Medical Officer within the Maryland Department of Health, Jeff was instrumental in the state’s effective response to the COVID-19 pandemic. He worked with state and local partners to organize mass vaccination and testing clinics and spearheaded Maryland’s surge capacity operations.

An entrepreneur and a small business owner, Jeff still serves in the Maryland Air National Guard as a Lt. Colonel.

He lives in Sykesville with his wife Nicole and their two children, Wyatt and Phaedra.
