Kelly Schulz for Governor Releases Statement on New Vaccination Protocols for State Employees
August 7, 2021
Today, the Kelly Schulz for Governor campaign released the following statement in response to the new vaccination protocols for state employees:
“From the beginning of this pandemic, making sure the elderly and people with disabilities were protected from the virus was a top priority, and Maryland was right to focus on those populations. They were, and still are, the most at risk from COVID,” said gubernatorial candidate Kelly Schulz.
“Governor Hogan presented a choice to state-employed health care workers to either test more often and wear a mask or get the vaccine. There must be a very clear line between reasonable actions like this, and other actions that would infringe on Marylanders’ rights and liberties. When we require a vaccine mandate with no other options, we are forcing people to do what they are not comfortable with. That is something I will never support, and something I will actively fight against. I believe it is a bad precedent for the government to make very personal health choices for Marylanders.
“These last 18 months have been hard on everyone. I chose to get vaccinated because it was the right decision for me, and I encourage everyone who can, to do the same. The only way out of this is to keep moving forward, make the best decisions for you and your family, and be kind to your neighbors and fellow Marylanders.”
